Communication Skills By far, the one skill I utilize most often in my day is the ability to listen, write, and speak effectively. Successful communication is critical in education as well as business. Analytical/Research Skills As a teacher, I possess the ability to assess a situation, seek multiple perspectives, gather information, and identify key issues that need to be addressed. This is critical for reaching all of my students, not just a select few. Flexibility/Adaptability I am able to manage multiple priorities. Having to teach age groups ranging from 5 through 14, I would say I have ACED the ability to adapt to changing work conditions and circumstances. Interpersonal Abilities I possess the ability to work with coworkers in a professional manner while attempting to achieve a common goal, keeping the lines of communication open. Being able to communicate with a 8th grader is alone a stunning feat, but the ability to communicate with my students - to hear and be heard, is a skill I am very proud to possess.
Leadership/Management Skills I am a goal driven leader in my classroom as well as in the school community. I am able to maintain a productive climate. I provide constant motivation and encouragement to my students. . Planning/Organizing I am able to design, plan, organize, and implement projects and lessons within an allotted time frame. I feel I can never be ‘over prepared.’ I possess a high degree of detail orientation. Problem-Solving/Reasoning/Creativity I am able to generate solutions to problems using my extreme creativity, reasoning, and past experiences.
Honesty/Integrity I represent myself with the highest amount of honesty and integrity. I take an honest approach to good hard work and a job well done. This helps me be an professional, effective, and responsible leader. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

I have been asked to write a letter of recommendation for Kristin Gannon. It gives me great pleasure to do so! I have known Kristin for seven years in her capacity as K-8 Art Teacher at Bromley East Charter School, and in mine as her principal/co-principal. Kristin has been a mainstay of our teaching staff at Bromley for those seven years. She is highly professional, extremely competent, and very “child-centered.” Kristin constantly-and very successfully-tries to integrate Art with subject matter students are studying in their “Core” classes. She is the consummate “team player,” doing whatever is requested of her by any staff member to help make our school function in the best interests of the kids. If I were beginning a new school, I would have no trouble choosing Kristin Gannon as my first choice for Art Teacher for my new faculty! If Kristin should choose to leave Bromley East Charter School, she will leave behind a large void, in the hearts of her students, their parents, and me, but I know I speak for all of us in wishing Kristin nothing but the best should she choose to pursue a new opportunity! Please feel free to contact me should you have further questions about Kristin Gannon!
Very truly yours,
Robert Bair Co-Principal, Bromley East Charter School Doug Marschalek - Art Education Department Chair, University of Wisconsin - Madison Kristin Gannon is an exceptional young woman. I understand that she is applying for a teaching position in your area. I would like to highly recommend her for the job. Kristin was a student in my art education course and presented herself as a highly motivated learner. Kristin's strong points include an ability to take on multiple tasks simultaneously and produce high quality results despite pressure or deadlines. What is really impressive in that she always applies herself to her work and lessons 110%. She was always prepared for the tasks ahead and maintained a positive outlook despite any circumstances. I was quite happy to see that a heavy workload did not reduce her work-quality or dampen her spirits in any way. I must also put on record her academic performance. Her projects always had an extra touch that went above and beyond what was called for. I always found her staying late and spending her weekends in the classroom or computer lab. This should give you an idea of Kristin's willingness to take on challenging roles and coming out ahead. If your school seeks intelligent candidates with strong achievement orientation and leadership, Kristin is a good choice. Finally, let me unequivocally state my strong recommendation for Kristin Gannon. If you have any questions or need more information, I will be happy to talk to you. Please call me at the telephone number provided. 608-263-7326 Susan Placko - Art Education Practicum Supervisor, University of Wisconsin - Madison This letter is intended to serve as a recommendation for Kristin Gannon. I have been acquainted with Kristin for 2 years but came to know her well our last year together, as I was her supervisor in her art education practicum. Through various observations of her in the classroom, I have come to know her as not only a dedicated student to learning, but a great teacher as well. I was initially impressed with her ease in the classroom. Most student teachers find it hard to transition into the lead role, but not Kristin. She seemed to jump in head first. She is able to captivate her audience and connect to the students in such a unique fashion. Her lesson plans always had a great sense of timing and flow, as well as unique 'moderness' to them. Students and faculty often remark that Kristin is blessed with considerable talent. What many of them overlook is how hard Kristin works to cultivate her talent, whether it be the development of her artistic abilities or improving her teaching skills. I know of the effort that she put into writing the perfect lesson plan, or creating the ideal art example. She takes pride in her work, and deserves applause for it. In over five years of teaching, I have known other students with talent equivalent to Kristin's. Many of them lacked her good nature and humility, and few demonstrated the genuine intellectual curiosity that Kristin had exhibited over and over -- a curiosity that is often accompanied by her excitement or enthusiasm for an idea, an author, an artist, or local dance performance. Kristin is a motivated young woman of numerous talents and considerable self -discipline. She is fun-loving, likable, enthusiastic, trusting and trustworthy. Monique Karlen - Art Teacher, Whitehorse Middle School, Wisconsin Kristin Gannon is an exceptional young lady. Most everyone knows of her intellectual insight, lofty ambitions, dancing abilities, and kindness. I've been Kristin's cooperating teacher for 6 months. While I wish her only the best and fully understand that she must advance her career, I'm truly sorry to see her go. It has been a pleasure having her on my team. Kristin is an innovative self starter, who rarely needs supervision. She is punctual and typically exceeds expectations. She handles pressure well, and will voluntarily work overtime ( although who doesn't when you're a teacher) and take work home to meet a deadline. Kristin has superior skills and admirable work ethics. Kristin is an extreme pleasure to work with. She filled my days with energy and life, a student teacher I will never forget. I'm sure the students will talk of her for years to come. She brought us new and inventive lessons, and was a great person to befriend on any level. Kristin is an invaluable asset to any art department and school community, and I highly recommend hiring her. If you'd like to discuss her attributes in more detail, please don't hesitate to contact me. Tonya Broyles-Brouillard |
